Meet Jennifer

Jennifer is sociable, loves food, and enjoys bringing people together. She's adventurous and enjoys exploring new social settings (including the pub).

She is also completing her DofE Bronze Award, and she will be using some of the skills she's developed to prepare and navigate Supper Walks for you.

"I'm really looking forward to experiencing something new and helping with the conservation of Costa Rica."
Jennifer

The Idea

By bringing together two of Jennifer's favourite things, walking and eating, the idea was to create a fun way to raise funds to support Jennifer's journey to Costa Rica with Camps International, where she will be working on charitable and conservation projects.

Supper Walks brings together fresh air, good company, and a shared purpose.

The Expedition

A four-week programme combining community development, wildlife conservation, environmental protection, and personal growth.

The projects are designed to make a significant and lasting impact on the region's most critical issues. Projects typically focus on:

  • Supporting conservation efforts such as regeneration, beehive construction and lime-washing trees
  • Supporting community development such as constructing a special educational needs centre and a community playground

Projects

Students help raise educational and living standards for rural communities, assist in wildlife conservation programs, and support environmental sustainability initiatives.

Between 2017 and 2024 the Costa Rica projects have:

  • Built approximately 400 beehives and 75 bird boxes
  • Helped create an artificial reef which provides a sheltered environment for endangered species
  • Encouraged eco-tourism by creating inclusive tourism paths
